Does anyone recognize this quilt pattern?

Garden Gnome 08-19-2018 04:44 PM

Never saw that pattern before. Do you know what the applique is representing?

nativetexan 08-19-2018 04:53 PM

well they are definitely not Blue Bells but that was what came to mind. they do make me think of bells.

Tartan 08-19-2018 06:09 PM

No idea but it might be representing snow drops?

Ariannaquilts 08-19-2018 08:01 PM

I am going to go out on a limb here and say that I think it represents mother and daughter! Is that crazy but that's what I saw as soon as I looked at it.

that's what I first saw too--but closer inspection the daughter is missing her neck!

I see a mother/child also. Maybe it is an original design off of a child's drawing.

Looks more like a flower in some blocks, wonder if the inconsistency is throwing it off.

SusieQOH 08-20-2018 03:53 AM

My guess is people but I don't know who?

c joyce 08-20-2018 04:31 AM

Can't remember the name, but there is an artist that does this type of drawing to represent people. There is usually a quote with the picture. My DIL wanted a print of one and I ordered online a few years ago.

PaperPrincess 08-20-2018 04:45 AM

I don't see people. I think it's a stylized flower of some sort. Whatever it is, it sure is interesting. I looked at it from all angles... even turned my laptop upside down!
Welcome to the board.

luvstoquilt 08-20-2018 04:57 AM

I have never seen that design before but I immediately thought it was a mother and child.

kyquiltlover1942 08-20-2018 05:18 AM

Mother and daughter was the first think that came to my mind also.

janjanq 08-20-2018 05:50 AM

I'm sort of seeing stick figures of a hairdresser and customer!

I’ve no idea what the maker tried to depict but majority of guesses have been mother and child. Others guessed flowers but not blue bells, cowbells.
The quilt was among others that were discovered after a neighbor’s mother died.

kat13 08-20-2018 09:24 AM

It looks like Mother and Child to me...

Jordan 08-20-2018 09:46 AM

I agree with some of you that at first I thought of a mother and child but at closer inspection I can't really figure out what it represents. It's a mystery!! Guess you can make it represent whatever you want.

cashs_mom 08-20-2018 10:19 AM

I sort of saw weird people but then decided it was some type of vegetation. Especially after I realized that one of the "people" apparently had both heads!

Jingle 08-20-2018 03:16 PM

Like everyone else I have no idea, don't recall seeing it before.

Teen 08-20-2018 04:59 PM

It looks like florals with stems to me...especially with the the little fuzzy stuff coming out of the bottom of each flower bell..that would be my guess but I have no clue what flower that would be.

barny 08-20-2018 05:19 PM

It definitely looks like Mother and Daughter in a" Picasso" like drawing.

Maire 08-20-2018 07:12 PM

My first thought before I read comments was mother & daughter. I think maybe Toverly suggestion it was from a child's drawing made sense. I've done embroidery from a grandson's drawing, if I put it into a quilt people would forever be guessing what it meant.

CR 08-21-2018 06:31 AM

I also thought it looked like a mother and daughter.

Grandma Cindy 08-21-2018 06:44 AM

It appears to be two blooms along with two buds.

My guess is Lily of the Valley.courtesy of Wikipedia.

madamekelly 08-21-2018 11:18 AM

They look to me to be two bell shaped flowers, with two buds over the top. Are the embroidered lines black or green?

Annie68 08-21-2018 12:00 PM

These answers remind me of a Rorschach test! I see a flower of some sort.:o

Linda1 08-21-2018 03:40 PM

I know I am wierd but I see a mother and child alien. lol
