No need to get depressed about it. You are learning and will get it right with effort, determnation and the help of skilled members of this board. We have all had to deal with a learning curve in our lives over something.

Once you get it done right, you will be so pleased with yourself for the time and effort you put in to mastering that block. It will all be worth it.

Hang in there! Keep on seeking advice for your quilting bumps because it can be found here.

Looks like a pattern error to me. I've just pulled my hair out with a pattern error which I discovered after I cut out all my pieces earlier today.

(I have that talk with myself almost every day. <g>) One thing you might consider is to take the parts apart and move the red part slightly to the left. That way, the difference between the red and brown will be more even, so it will look like it was supposed to be that way. (See... I'm already trying to fudge.)

I was thinking the same thing.

I agree. Paper piecing would make them come out perfect.

I am actually in the process of making this "empty spools" quilt now. I decided to make one large spool in the center and eight smaller ones around the outside - spacing them with a 9 block square. all of my pieces are 6" finished. there is a website that I got from Google - I put in "empty spool quilt" and I got the instructions and dimensions for making this - it is really easy and I have not had any problems making my corners meet - good luck!
