HELP: jelly roll [2 ½" wide] for a bargello?

I found a jelly roll I really like, and want to make a bargello quilt.
Can I use it for the quilt?

I'd say it would depend on the pattern. Many bargellos require strips of various widths. You could still use it for part of your strips even then, but would have to find yardage to go with it if you need wider strips.

Yes, Lisa is correct. You would need to find a pattern that uses a 2" finish strip and normally those are on the larger size. Most of the smaller Bargello I have made usually have strips cut 1.5" or 2". Do you have duplicates?? You could do a simple Bargello but that would require 4 strips of 12 fabrics. You need to calculate if you will have enough strips. Good Luck!! Maybe do a table runner??

Bonnie Hunter has a Scrappy Bargello in her Free Pattern tab on her site http://www.quiltville.blogspot.ca Take a look at it to see if this is what you are thinking of.

both of the bargello's I've posted pics of started out with 2 1/2" strips- it is the 'strip sets' that are cut at various widths, mine used cuts from 3/4" up to 3 1/2" ...but all of the strip sets started out by sewing 2 1/2" wide strips together.

I use 2-1/2" strips for my bargellos too. I say go for it!

Sounds like to me it would work. I have a book on making a bargello but, haven't yet.
