Help with little churn dash block

I have a bunch of charms that i would like to use for tiny churn dash blocks. If i have 2charms of each color for one churn dash, not including background, what would be the measurements for each piece to be cut? Hope this make sense..i want to make the biggest block possible using 2 five inch squares for the dash part. Please help...thanks!

There is an article in the current issue of "Quilty" magazine (on newstands) in which 2 1/2 strips are cut. It is possible that you can adapt their instructions since the charm is 5" and it appears it would be cut in half.
The article and instructions are detailed. Otherwise I would draft somthing on paper to accommodate your charm.
