Looking for a mariners compass or star block pattern that is relatively easy. I am a beginner and thought I would try my hand at this. found one recently and downloaded it but can't find it now. any links would be helpful.

Here's a few.

There's 4 pages of star blocks here, many of them are only .99

http://www.lenzula.com used to have a bunch of New York Beauty Blocks which are similar to Mariner's Compass if you're interested.

You might also check out http://www.quilterscache.com and click on the Quilt Blocks Galore under "Where do you want to go". If she doesn't have a star you like--you didn't look long enough.

you can purchase a printed interfacing from quilt smart for either the lone star or mariners compass. it gives you a base to work with and really makes your first attempt successful. the interfacing stays in the quilt, nothing to remove. i have done a couple of them with and without the interfacing...'from scratch' and with the interfacing. the interfacing makes it go much faster and your points all come out perfect.
great for beginners
