Ladies,,I need advice,, Im about into tears,, I finally was able to take my sewing machine out of the box,,, ( packed before I left for Iraq,,,) and the bobbin threader has been pushed down into the hole!!! How do I get it out? is my baby able to be fixed,,,, afraid to let DH mess with it,,, it may not come back together,, you know how most men are when they take something apart,,, lol (sorry men,,)

Are talking about the peg that the bobbin sits on while you wind it ?
|
What machine model is it? And I am not sure what you mean--more explanation please.
|
my baby is a simple walmart brothers sewing machine, and yes the hole on the top that you wind the thread onto the bobbin,,,, thanks again ladies,,
|
Ouch. Let hubby take the cover off and pull it back up I hope--hope it is not broken.
|
I hope he can fix it. How sad.

Are there sewing machine repair shops in Iraq?

My husband took my Brother EX660 apart to clean it inside. He removed all the screws he could find. (He knows what he is doing.) The machine came apart in two halves. The front side was one half and the back side was the other half. He pulled them apart slowly and carefully because the wires run from one side to the other side. So he kept both side close to each other to prevent putting any pull on the wires. I have the SQ9000 also and I would expect the same method to apply to it but he hasn't needed to clean it yet. Does your machine sew? Do you have another machine you can wind your bobbins on? Is your husband or yourself used to taking things apart and putting them back together? I would not try to force pull the bobbin winder stem up. I would let him or you take it apart and see if it is jammed or broken inside. Or you could take it to a dealer for them to check it. My users manual has an 800 number for customer service. I have read on other post that the brother 800 number was very helpful. If you don't have your manual let me know and I will give you the 800 #/Regards, Dorothy

Can you get something to grab ahold of it to pull it up? JoAnns and such carry bobbin winders. This may be an option.
|
If you can't fix it, now we are talking just to wind bobbins. Get one of those side winders that wind your bobbins. I bought one for the store and they really work. I think Joann Fab carries them you could order on line,or have Mom buy one and send it to you. If I find mine I'll PM you and send it. I thought I saw it but it might be still in the box. Catherine

"Sidewinders" are wonderful! Couldn't do without mine now! Check out prices on Google though. Joann's is expensive here!

I hope your garbage didn't go away yet.
Strip it for parts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep the pedal foot, keep the bobbin case (new one cost as much as $50usd, keep everything you can. Do you have room to shove it in a closet? Save it for parts. /Regards, Dorothy |

thanks everyone!!! I hate to hear about the machine not being salvageable but like stated earlier I would save it just for parts if you have the room. If not go out there and strip as much as you can off of the machine and put them in a labeled zip lock baggie and toss them into a shoebox or something. You never can tell when you might need something if the other one breaks. Or hubby decides to fix it for you again  But you did get a new machine out of the deal and its one that you really like so its kinda a win win situation. But it would have been nice to be able to tell folks in 20 years where all that machine has traveled to ;-) ;-) Billy |
I just googled and it seems there are several sewing machine shops or repair places in Puerto Rico. Wether they are open or not might be a different story.
|
yes there are shops here, but many are located so far away from me,, and the one I did find,, does not speak a word of english,, lol.. and my spanish is very very limited,, but I did strip it for parts. LOL... As mentioned,I never knwo when I will need an extra part,, looked like a poor dead skeleton in the garbage,,,,
