Help me decide on boarders please.

I had all these cute fabric in my scraps. I have made purses, aprons, hats and more from this type of cutesy stuff. All of these 6 and 1/2 squares are animals and I sashed with Kona cream. I was thinking for doing a narrow red stop boarder next to frame the quilt. Then what kind of boarder? Should i piece something or go plain or small print with background white? Tell me what you think please.

I like the red idea. maybe piano key for the final border? or a wider white border with a scrappy binding?
Red red red, I vote for red! and then Paperprincess's piano key idea sounds great, or a scrappy border. :)
i would use the red (stop) border than another white one & call it good---to me piano keys or something scrappy would just make it too busy- but that's just me- i love it but think a plain (white on white) final border would bring it all together...there is something (crisp & refreshing) about a white bordered quilt.

I vote for the red border.
Do you have any red & white checks? That would be perfect.
I agree with ckcowl, I think it would be way to busy with too much add for the boarders. I think with the additional red boarder and some white would make the patches pop even more.
Just maybe the red boarder is all you need. Get it sewn on and then see if you need to take it any further. Sometimes less is more, especially when you are dealing with scrappy.

Thanks girls, I will do the red and then take a look. I agree I don't want scrap boarder to take away from the quilt.
They're right. Forget the piano keys. Do a White 2" white, 3"red w/ r & w print for bindind or red for binding on a res border.
On second thought, not white but gold or goldenrod. And red border and binding.
I just love your prints. |
I agree red first and see where you are! Your quilt is so darling!!! I love it!!!
I LOVE this quilt. REALLY cute! :-)
I like the red idea and strip border. I would not put another white board on.

I like this idea. That would be pretty. Would add to the homey look.
I like the red stop border first. Then you could put on a red pattern of some kind. Sort of busy but not too much - like gingham or a small pattern. Gingham would reinforce the "farm" look since you have the farm animals. Then bind in solid red. Can't wait to see what you decide.

I like the red border with a scrappy binding -- that would be a nice finish to your quilt. Cute!
The red border, then make your binding from a tiny poka-dot or print. Maybe black w/cream.
Unless you want to add a border to make the quilt larger, I'd suggest leaving it as is--it looks great.

I think red with a little white fleck or something in the boarder
