I have hit a dead spot in my brain trying to figure out how to make this seam. Every time I try, the pieces skew off at odd angles rather than turning into one long strip. The seam will sew two 1-1/4" strips together. I've made patterns so I can paper piece the tips and sew them to the strips, but would rather just sew the strips together.
Can someone out there with a clear head figure out how to do this? The visible seam must have a rise of 2-1/4" and a run of 3/4". |

This template is 3/4" tall by 2 1/4" long. Let me know if I need to adjust it any for you :D:D:D

If you line up amma's template, it should show exactly how much the piece should overhang. Use that as your guideline, pin, then sew.
When I am unsure, I pin and then flip the piece over to verify that the pieces line up. |

Thank you, thank you, thank you. The lightbulb went on!!!
I was trying to sew the pieces together with squared ends, and when I saw the template thought, hmm, maybe I should angle trim the ends first. DUH Need to practice a couple of more times, but this is closer than I've been yet!!! the seam allowance needs to be cut so the edge will lie flat at both ends |
You are very welcome :D:D:D
