I currently store my fabric on cheap laminated bookshelves (the $39 specials from Walmart). I have it stored on one large and several small. I am having to increase my storage area as I have too much fabric for the storage I've got! I am trying to consider different options.
I have the wire closet organizer but just have two shelves across the length of the closet on the botton and one across the top. I then have some hanging baskets and a rod. (used to be a kids room). So, would I be more beneficial in purchasing more wire shelving and having DH install it, or buying yet another bookcase???
I have more fabric on numerous shelves, a few good sized stacks on my cutting table, a large laundry basket full of still folded, waiting to be washed fabrics and two more large orders coming in this week!

When I first joined the board, I asked then about organization~now I ask again! How do you organize?
Do you think there is a way to convert my closet (with more shelving) to store fabric??? If so, what would you buy to put between the stacks so they wouldn't fall over?

Looks far more organized than mine. Can you take some of the fabrics and hang them on plastic coat hanger then put them on the rod?

When I first joined this board and was reading about stashing, I said to myself how can it be soo difficult to take care of them...Well only 2 months later and i TOTALLY get it! LOL

You will be surprised how fast time goes by & when the fabric is exposed it will not only collect dust, but the exposed folded edges on fabrics will fade. If an enclosed armoir tipe cabinet is not ann option, maybe you could make a drape type covering for the shelving.

That's kind of what I was thinking about with the closet. It does dont have doors and I only have three small windows, but I have a portable design wall that is 6' x 6' that covers the closet. I know that is not the best for coverage, but it would surely be better than open shelves. I just can't figure out how to keep the stacks from falling over on each other there.

I can't get over you all's stash. That's like walking into the quilt shop for me! I have very little. I could use that small cabinet and probably still have room! LOL

I would opt to use the closet....

maybe use the plastic signboards between the stacks of fabric.
