Help me out???

Hi quilting friends...I'm giving the program to my study club today on Quilting...everything quilting! I've told so many about the Quilt Board and the wonderful people who help you out when you need it. I thought it would be fun to see how many responses I can get in the next hour or so? I'll check you in a little bit!!!

THANK YOU!!

Well, I'm pretty new, but I've seen more ideas here in 30 days than I could have on my own in 30 years!

And everyone is so kind & helpful.

Prism99 03-16-2016 11:10 AM

I've got to run, but will post a "good luck"! wish here now. Good luck! :)

BluegrassGurl 03-16-2016 11:12 AM

Hello from the Bluegrass state - Kentucky!

ManiacQuilter2 03-16-2016 11:16 AM

I am not sure what these people in your study group will want to know. Do you have quilts that you made and show them a trunk show?? Most quilters I know want to see what quilts I am making especially my bargellos.

moonwork42029 03-16-2016 11:36 AM

I'd do the chart of "what a quilt costs"

Hello Study Group!

just_the_scraps_m'am 03-16-2016 11:39 AM

definitely have learned a LOT on here, lots of stuff i wouldn't have time to research on my own, oh and then there's all the pretty pictures and patterns + it's good to embrace others' views.....& although i'm getting mentally exhausted just thinking about it -- this is a great place for all things quilting!

mamagrande 03-16-2016 11:42 AM

It just helps to have opinions when you run into some difficult situations. You think you are the only one with a problems and then you learn that there are others with the same one.;)

luana 03-16-2016 11:51 AM

I am also telling my quilting buddies what I just learned on this board. I like that it is international. It interesting to hear about he trends, costs, availability of fabrics and notions in other countries. On the other hand, it amazed me how we all share common problems and accomplishments.

Good Luck with your presentation, hope it went well.

cjsews 03-16-2016 12:04 PM

Good luck on your presentation 😊😊😊

quiltingcandy 03-16-2016 12:08 PM

Have fun! I can't believe how many times I talk about this website to others. There is always something new to learn and beautiful pictures to see.

annievee 03-16-2016 12:15 PM

Yes, I talk about this board with other people. Have learned a lot and still learning !

Crqltr 03-16-2016 12:52 PM

Be sure to let them know how helpful everyone here is! Does not matter what it is..help finding patterns, fabric or whatever.. Figuring out a pattern, color choices, doing the quilt math. Plus much much more!

running1 03-16-2016 01:49 PM

Hello all...thank you so much for responding!!! They loved it!! In fact more than one of our little group indicated they will be coming to the guild meeting... if for no other reason than to simply get more information. They LOVED they idea of this board and were so impressed with the helpfulness, inspiration... well, all of it! Moonwork...I wish I'd thought of that... we did discuss the cost of a quilt. It seems everyone has an important connection to at least one quilt. And yes... they were quite sweet about my little trunk show... It's been a good day! Thank you everyone!!!

QuiltingHaven 03-16-2016 01:56 PM

Working on 6 quilts right now. Let 'em know that they can have quilts in all stages of work so that they are "Never" bored with quilting. ;-)

jmoore 03-16-2016 02:13 PM

happy to hear that your program was received well and that you captured some interest... I'm sure you did a great job.

ontheriver 03-16-2016 08:09 PM

This board and all the quilters on it are fantastic!

Golfergal 03-17-2016 04:10 AM

This is a wonderful board! I have gotten alot of people from our quilting group in Texas using it. Information, ideas, free patterns and tuts are just a few things you can learn about here. I love it!!!

mlt150 03-17-2016 04:16 AM

Quilters are the most helpful people in the world!! Happy sewing.

LilaKay 03-17-2016 04:34 AM

Hello from South Texas. I cannot get my day started until I have checked to see what everyone is doing on this board...lol

MaggieLou 03-17-2016 05:09 AM

I stumbled across the site several years ago. I was fairly new to quilting but I'm always learning something new here. It's a great resource for new or experienced quilters.

shasta5718 03-17-2016 06:07 AM

good Luck! This is a great resource, use it frequently.

northern lass 03-17-2016 07:02 AM

Hi there, wouldn't be without everyone on the QB. Even though we may be scattered far and wide, it's good to know that help is never far away when you need it.

madamekelly 03-17-2016 09:13 AM

The best part of this board is the willingness to help find information for each other, the mutual support, and using the "fast horse*" rule. (*All quilts will be inspected for errors as we ride by on a fast horse.") lol! Welcome to our obsession from Oregon.

The Quilting Board has so many delightful members who are more than willing to offer suggestions or advice to anyone about practically anything. To me it's a great source of information.

blueheavenfla 03-17-2016 05:29 PM

Thank you for this link. I was about to try to come up with something similar and you have saved me a lot of time. The only thing is that fabric costs more now...here, at least.

As far as any hobby is concerned, the machinery and accessories are usually the most expensive items to begin with, but when it comes to machine embroidery, I heard 20+years ago that the price of the machine was the cheapest part of the craft. I have found this to be so true because digitizing takes time and patience, and patterns cost a fortune because we try to collect everything we like and sadly, never find the time to make them all. However, when our body starts letting us down and we find sitting at a machine sewing patchwork, it can be comforting to know that we can alternate between styles and still enjoy our hobbies - patchwork and embroidery go hand in hand. Embroidery machines in Oz today can cost from A$399 to A$15,000!

A good idea is when asking for help from the Quilting Board, is to check back after the main responses because the best idea might be the last one posted.

This really is an amazing chart!!! I can hardly wait to share all the additional responses you, my quilty friends, have offered!! I had never seen this chart and it's eye-opening. Like so many of you, I've learned such valuable advice, heard uplifting encouragement, and have been beautifully inspired by all the quilty friends here on the QB... I can't thank you enough!!

BTW... did I hear that today is National Quilting Day???
