I need some help please. From all of you who have used photos for your quilts, what fabric do you use for you photos to transfer on to? I am going to make two quilts for Christmas for my two children. I used June Taylors once and the picture was rather stiff, and I don't want these to be stiff. Crafty Bear suggested that those of you who have used photos in your quilts might be able to help and even give a tute on how you did yours.
Sewmom has been very helpful with advice about Bubble Jet so I can make my own sheets. I do not live close to any fabric shop, nearest LQS is 85 miles away, and a Hancock's is 100 miles, that's it. I have checked Connecting Threads, Keepsake Quilting, Jo Ann's, Nancy's Notions and a couple of others for some very soft fabric, with a 200 thread count, in white, but so far I haven't been able to find any. What does everyone else use? I need to find out as soon as possible, so I can get these two quilts started as soon as possible. I want to get them finished and have three others I need to make before Christmas. No pressure at all lol. Any advice and help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks in advance. Gerbie

I use bubble jet set from Cjenkins I think it is just google it it would be cheaper than driving and then not finding what you want.

Did you use June Taylor 100%cotton fabric sheets that go thur your inkjet printer...Type you sew...not iron on...
The iron ons are like rubber...not the others.
I always use the cotton sew on's and they are soft. I then use Lite Heat Bond cut to size of photo...cut out the center and only use a small border around the edge of the back to hold it in place...then I do a decorative frame around the entire photo with my sewing machine which has build in stitches.

That sounds like alot of work with the Bubblejet2000. I am going to make a memory quilt for my dad. I dont want stiff pictures either, but I am waiting for other responses too

The hardest part is waiting for it to dry!!

I've made photo quilts for many years and tho I could make my own sheets I've had wonderful success with Printed Treasures. I wait for a 50% off coupon from Joanns and bye an entire box as I do so many. I've never had them fade, crack or peel.

Are they stiff or do they feel and look just like fabric??

I don't find them stiff at all. I made 8 small pillows with a picture in the center for our grandkids. They were fine.

The one I used before was not the iron on, but the one you run through a printer on to a fabric sheet of June Taylors.

Have any of you used the Miracle sheets from Soft Expressions? They have a pkg. of 10 sheets of 8 1/2x11 on sale for $16.64 or 2 pkgs of 20 for $29.00. They are supposed to be very soft

I'm not at home so I can't check the maker, but I use the ready to use printer fabric for my pictures. After they dry, you peel off the paper, soak them in water and let dry. After that they are just like any cotton in the quilt. I have never noticed that they were stiff or different and they sew just like the other fabrics too.
I just follow the directions on the box.
