I have a Janome 350E-uses JEF format-Well my BIL just sent me a box full of Amazing Designs by Geat Notions embroidery designs. The only problem---they are on floppy disks and of course my 350E does not take them. They are from 1996 & 1997-they include a Janome format in SEW. My questions for those in the know, how or what can I use/buy to convert them into a JEF format. I have looked at the Little Max box, but can't find anything really telling me what it does or how to use it. I don't want to purchase something that may not work for what I want.
Any information or advice that anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Most of these packages have never been opened and are in brand new condition.

Thanks for any help; this board is just so full of great information, i'm here every day, sometimes much too long.

First locate a computer that has the correct size of floppy disk drive.

Second you can download Embird software from Embird.com. This is a 30 trial version that you can use to convert file formats. PM me if you need more information.

I convert file formats all the time.

u should be able to take the floppy to a KwikKopy type store and they should still have the equipment to bur it to a CD.
Or prehaps u can find a exturnal portable floppy drive at a pawn shop.

Or, just forget about them. There are TONS of free designs on the web and so many that go on sale for cheap, cheap, cheap.

Why on earth would someone do that with designs that were given to her? When all she has to do is get them converted which you can see, is possible. Money must be bubbling out of your pockets. You have a money tree in your back yard? I'll take a starter clipping...

Ummmm, did you miss the word FREE???

Just so hard to find an old computer that would take a disc ...

There are several free programs you can use to convert designs. Here's a couple of links.

You can purchase an external flooppy disk drive very cheaply on ebay that you can use on your computer through a USB port to read the files. ( less than $10 ) . If you go to http://www.embird.com/ you can download a trial version of embird which will allow you to convert the files into the formatt your embroidery machine runs on. Hope this helps.

Hi, I use to sell machines, but not Janome.......if the info I got off of the internet is true......you should be able to transfer SEW to JEF. Also, if your machine is newer, and you have a usb slot....you could transfer through computer and send direct. If not so new, you will have to use the card slot and the Little Max comes with appropriate card.
