Help with online shopping!

I need thread I am looking at Connecting Threads because I have read some great comments about them on here. I am just getting into quilting more so I want to go with the large spools. I am just wondering if Connecting Threads always has great sales? They have a great sale on the large spools of thread right now. But I want $75 worth..so I thought it would be easier to convince my husband to let me get some now..and some later..but if that great of a sale is rare then I will talk him into letting me get all of it now. I just figured that since I had only heard of them yesterday I would ask everyone else in hopes that someone else is familiar with the sales that they run.

Thank you in advance.

By the way I am new to this site. And I am loving it.

They have sales all the time. I just looked and it doesn't appear that the thread is on sale this week. Looks like normal prices

CT does have frequent sales. Selected thread sets are on sale now, but not the cones. The price per yard of the thread sets (40% off) is actually less than the price per yard of the cones, which are not on sale. But eventually the cones will go on sale and be a better buy. You might consider getting one thread set to see if you like the thread before buying a lot of it. Of course they have free shipping for over $50 ordered...

I use CT for my thread and am very happy with its' performance....but as as Dunster said, but a few spools first and try them as not all machines will like CT essentials....mine isn't picky and will sew with whatever I thread her with.....I do like their sales....you can get some great fabrics for less $$$....always a winner for me....LOL

I love CT Essential Cotton Thread and so do most of my machines. Even if it's not on sale, you can't beat the price. I pieced and quilted my lap size quilt with less than one spool of blue thread. It was amazing. So much thread for such a great price.

I just received my CT order a few days ago-after previously buying 2 thread sets on sale for 40% off, I fell in love with it and waited until it went on sale again. I just got 2 more sets, plus an extra few spools of colors I use allot of. I LOVE their Essentials, and so does my machine, and their colors are fantastic!! I think you should go for it now while it is on sale-with 1200 yards in each spool, they last a long time-and is much less expensive than most others for that amount. The sets that are on sale now contain 15 spools for about $1.50 each and it is beautiful 100% Egyptian cotton with a satin finish. I just sit and admire them in my thread box!! LOL

Some folks love CT thread, and others hate it. I'm one of the folks that hate it. I won't use it if it was given to me. If you do a search, you'll find lots and lots of posts - both good and bad, about all brands of thread.

So my best suggestion to you is to buy ONE spool. See how you like it. Buy a color that you can use for both piecing and quilting (or at least for piecing but make sure you at least try to quilt with it even on a practice sandwich). Then if you like it, buy as much as you can. You might even want to spring for the color card if you like it enough, that way for future projects you won't have to "guess" what color matches best from the colors on the screen (which are rarely accurate).

I made the mistake of buying a whole bunch of it and hated the stuff. I was fortunate to be able to trade what I had with someone here on QB.

Their thread is okay, and I can make it work: but, my Gammill prefers King Tut so that's what I try to feed her. The other DSM's I have aren't that picky so sometimes they get CT for breakfast or lunch!
