I am searching for a straight stitch plate for my old Pfaff 1196.
I am not looking for the presser foot! Most plates have a slit to allow zig-zag sewing. This one only has 1 hole and prevents fabric going down the slot. Please can anyone help? I've googled unsuccessfully.

Good luck with your search; sorry I can't help you with finding it. However, if you're aim is to do FMQ, as a temporary substitute, you can punch a small hole in a business card and tape it over your existing plate. Works pretty good, especially if you need to cover feed dogs that don't drop on a particular machine.

I had to go to a dealer to order a plate. The first one we got looked correct but was just different enough not to fit (not the same machine you have). There is a wonderful dealer here in CT. Do you want me to check with him?

Thanks, good idea! Even a piece of stiff template plastic may do and I have some!

You're welcome! Just remember, unless you're doing FMQ, the feed dogs need to be uncovered!

Yep, got it. Took me an hours to make slots!
