Help Picking a Pattern

I REALLY love this fabric. However, I can't find a pattern that I think would work with it. I don't want to cut the pieces too small as it would lose the pattern completely. Could someone please help me find a pattern that would work. Thank you in advance.

D9p... i'd use the center fabric for the background, the red for the primary color and the other for the minor squares. then the fabric to the right is borders?

I would use a pattern called "Just Can't Cut It". Uses five fabrics ~ my biggest decision would be which one to use a the focus fabric. The largest figured one would be my choice but that looks like it may be a strip in the overall fabric. Do you have that one in yardage? Focus fabric strips need to be 12.5" for the blocks.

So many possibilities. Try a block you have never done before.
It will look good.

Check out Nancy Zeiman's big block quilts. Those fabrics would wonderful in any one of them.

I have a problem of getting stuck with all mediums and not being able to get the other values. I will be following this thread to see what others suggest.

How about a Carpenter Star with the background a dark blue. Each round of points could be another color and make your squares larger so you do not lose the beautiful patterns.

How about "Warm Wishes". As I recall, the pieces were pretty good sized. You will not lose you pretty fabric patterns with this.

I recently saw the pattern "clambake" and thought it would be perfect so fabric I have that I don't want to cut into small pieces. I found a link at random to show the picture.

i like a D9P or warm wishes for that lovely fabric. Please show us what you do, i love the fabric and wondered what to make of it too.

I do really love that fabric. The warm wishes pattern suggested would make a really good use of it.

annette1952 05-09-2017 07:58 AM

I also think it would be gorgeous in the Warm Wishes pattern.

Your fabrics are gorgeous! How about a 3D floating tile pattern? Or a Baby Blocks - you could decide the size of the blocks that way.

Mombygrace 05-09-2017 03:18 PM

D9patch and warm wishes would be great.

I bought that fabric in the black color way in 2006. It took me five years to figure out what I wanted to do with it.
I loved it immensely and still do. I used the border print as vertical sashing between snowball blocks and stars. I only had enough of the focus fabric for two sashing strips.
i know the pattern was from a magazine - I had two subscriptions at that time. I'm sure I can find the exact one if you are interested.

JenniePenny, I have a picture of that quilt also. It is one that I was seriously considering, and may still do. But I cut the fabric for a different one yesterday and will add pictures when I get a couple blocks done.

I think a large tumbling blocks would work.
