Help please on Fat Quarter Shop tutorial.
I have watched the tutorial for the Jelly Roll Jam Quilt Pattern. I have followed her directions up to where she choose the order for her blocks. Directions get rather fuzzy at this point for me. Even reading the printed copy I am confused. Please help this makes me fee really dense.

You should have 3 different sets of strips. All the seams in each set should be ironed in the same direction. Cut the sets into 6.5 inch segments. Label the strip sets 1, 2 & 3. Now make 3 blocks, each block consists of 2 of the 6.5" sub cuts. Sew a strip from set 1 to a strip from set 2. Then sew a strip from set 1 to a strip from set 3 and then sew a strip from set 2 to set 3. In each case, lay the strips so that the pressed seams from one set are going in the opposite direction of the other set. do this 2 more times for a total of 9 blocks.
Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about the block placement. I'd just lay the strips out in a manner that was pleasing to me for the whole quilt, then just sew it up. It's your quilt, you can decide the placement. |
Thank you for your reply Paper princess.
I understood up to the point of choosing/sewing the blocks. This helps. Thanks |
