Help Please Glad Press and Seal
 

Hi Guys,

Can anybody tell me where or if I can buy Glad Press and Seal in the UK. Yes I need it for quilting..... not wrapping my sandwiches - LOL LOL LOL.

Is there a different name for it over here.... I have looked and looked and just cannot find it!

Can’t tell you about buying it there but can tell you if you are going to use it instead of marking quilting lines that it is really difficult to remove if your design has small spaces.

In grade school we learned to color the back of a paper with a dark color or black, really cover it heavy, then write or draw on top side to transfer the image onto fabric or paper. I was thinking this might work for you. or order transfer paper from Hobby Lobby or Michael's....since it is also used in crafts. Good luck in finding what works for you.

P & S is also great for trying different quilting patterns on your quilt! Lay it on an area and then draw on it! I use Crayola washable markers and draw a design on it. Then you can either wipe it off with wet paper towel or leave that design on and draw another design on a new place on the quilt.

Any contact paper (the plastic, tacky drawer liner) would work for this to transfer the wording. Just use a utility knife to cut away your wording and then carefully tack it onto your quilt and trace off lightly. Remove and embroider. If you keep the peel off backing, you can put it back on and re-use it again.

Given this explanation you are much better off using a wax free transfer paper meant for fabric. Saral is a well known brand but I don't know if it is available in the UK. There are many brands though. If you have an artist supply store, they will have it. It comes in white and graphite. I would not take a chance with any colors (I have seen it offered in blue, pink and yellow). It is used a lot in tole style painting.

I use a Micron Pigma .05 in brown and a light box for all my embroidery work.
