My little sister got this at a garage sale for $10, King size and wants me to quilt it for her..I would like to let her know what pattern. I have searched and searched, but can't find it. I now one of the quilters on this board will know what it is.

it's a variation of Drunkard's Path. See the quilt on the top right here https://www.google.com/search?q=quil...IVgZeACh1b0w1v

Yep it is a drunkards path a very Old pattern and you can turn the blocks in multiple directions

She got a good deal! It is pretty, even prettier when you get it quilted.

What a kind sister. This is definitely worth quilting. Enjoy.

the block is called Drunkards Path. there are many settings using this block and every setting has a different name. this setting in one of my favorite, it's called "Love Ring". i quilted a small one years ago as a wedding gift for a friend. i quilted dancing entwined hearts in the open areas, outline quilted the floral areas. in your quilt it would be white hearts, blue outline. beautiful quilt. did little sis say "SCORE!!"? :)

what a steal!! Why do I never find these types of deals. Lucky you a beautiful quilt.

Drunkards path . It looks as if they are larger than normal blocks.?

Great Find

Thanks so much, I thought that might be what the pattern was, but wasn't for sure. Now I will be able to put the quilting label on the back.

What a great find. As everyone has said, this is an easy recognizable pattern that one name has stuck to it: Drunkard's path. You got a great buy.

Wish I could find a sale like that!

eparys 08-19-2015 04:43 AM

You have already gotten the answer as to what pattern it is - but I want to add - what a great find! AND - it is very pretty.

It definitely looks like a drunkards path block and it is just the way the maker assemble the blocks to get this design. I bet it will be so nice when you get it quilted. What a nice sister you are.

It is a variation of the drunkers path but I remember calling it Lovers Knot

materialgrl 08-20-2015 05:14 AM

Isn't it sad someone put that much work and money into it and it winds up in a sale, I'm glad it found a home to be loved in, Makes me sad,

carolynjo 08-20-2015 05:41 AM

Technically, it is a variation of Drunkard's Path, called Love Ring. I would not call it a Drunkard's Path, but Love Ring, which has been around for years!

Great find!

Ten dollars for this king size beautifully sewn quilt! It amazes me what people consider essentially worthless!

MargeD 08-20-2015 10:09 AM

WOW, your sister really got a good deal, as the top looks well made, and being king size to boot. There are many names, but Drunkard's Path comes to mind, and it was done in the barn raising pattern.

I used to do hand quilting for a lady named Betty Kiser who wrote at least two books on DP quilts. It is amazing how many different ways you can set them together, and I think she invented a few new ones!!

I believe Jenny Doan has a u/t on this pattern. Be sure and post pics after you've quilted it. Awesome find!
