I have a white 3355 and right now its not sewing. I took the tension apart to clean it and thought I remembered how it went back together. Obviously I don't as it skipping stitches and everything now. Can anyone help me?

Tee hee, sorry to snicker but I tried this with my Janome and of course it didn't work. It ended up in the shop and now works fine. Some things are better left alone in my case.

You can get free manual downloads directly from Singer. Go to http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html and search for your model number. (e.g. "3355"). Apparently singer has downloads for all the White machines, as well as their own.

I have the manual but it doesn't tell how to put the tension back together.....I've got something turned wrong or something I think. Thanks anyway though.

One trick I learned from being a first year apprentice: When disassembling anything. Lay the first piece you have to the far right, the second piece next to the first piece and so forth. When assembling put the last piece on first. I do this when taking apart anything but now I take a picture of the parts after I have them in line. One cat jump and they are scattered.

How frustrating. I wouldn't try that because I'm mechanically challenged.

ok I went to that site and down loaded the manual, good thing you have your own because the one they have sucks, not worth your time. Anyway, looking at what I could see of the pictures (there was no words in the whole manual) it looks like your bobbin is the type that has the tension adjustment on it. It will be a tiny screw, maybe you put in together right but now have to play with the tension screw on the bobbin the get it right again. If you send me a picture of it I can look at it better and tell you more about it. My normal email is [email protected].

unfortunately you will probably have to take it to a repair shop to re-assemble that...it is recommended that you use a vacuum with small brush and vacuum the lint out of those areas not actually take them apart unless you have been trained to. that is why you are not finding good pictures. you could try to find an actual repair manual not an owners manual and that probably shows the details. but the companies do not always make the repair manuals available to 'owners'

I know there are many Ladies & Gents doing this but I never would have the courage to do so. That said...it would probably be best to take it in to make sure it's done correctly. Perhaps the Tech could show you how to do it for future cost savings.
