Hi
I embroidered my first quilt label last night - it's for a child's Dora the Explorer Quilt - I embroidered Dora with a saying that this quilt was made with love for Meadow by me. I used white fabric with a soft cut away stabilzer. How much seam allowance should I be using to fold the label to make it square? So now, when and how do I sew this on to the quilt? Before I bind it? Before I wash it?
Thanks for your help!!!

I would turn it under atleast 1/2" on the sides.
You can tuck part of it into the binding, or sew it down any where on the back of the quilt. It can be hand or machine sewn to the backing.
I would add it before the quilt is washed :D:D:D

I like a 4/1 inch turn, then trim the corners & miter them.. I've never machine embroidered a label, ... but I like to attach mine before I machine quilt, if I hand quit I apply it after with little blind hem stiches, or, if I'm using a 'big stitch' on the front, I'll apply that to the label as well.

I put a narrow border on mine, then sew a backing on it, right sides together. Use your seam ripper to cut a slit in the middle of the back so that you can turn it right side out. Then sew it to your quilt. I hope that makes sense.

I "frame" mine with coordinating fabric. Here's how I do it: http://www.quiltmaker.com/blogs/quil...nd-a-giveaway/
