I'm making a quilt with a removable fleece lining (for extra warmth). I want to use something soft for the fasteners. No velcro or hard buttons. I'm thinking of making buttonholes on the fleece. I haven't been able to find fabric buttons. I would appreciate any ideas you may have to help me.

You can make "covered" buttons. Haven't done it in years though. Used to buy the "blanks" from fabric stores. However, instead of covering buttons, which will still be made from metal and hard, I would look at making Asian Knot buttons. These are all fabric and are quite attractive. Will see if I can find a web site for you. :D

You can probably find them at craft stores also.

What about snaps? Even though they are solid, since they are sewed tighly to the fabric, they move with it so you don't get those perpendicular lumps.

Buttonholes on the quilt and strips on the fleece tied through them and fastened with bows?

Did you mean lining, or using the fleece as an addition to the back after it is quilted?

Fabric ties would work or pretty satin ties...

I think fabric ties would be perfect. Soft and nice.

I like the idea of fabric ties or covered buttons :D:D:D

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'll do the fabric ties and put buttonholes on the fleece lining. The Asian knot buttons would be fabulous, but very labor intensive.
