Help with sign

2 Attachment(s)
I can't find my old post -- I asked for help with my sign for craft fair-- Here is the finished product. I'll try to attach a picture. The show went OK i think. Sold enough to cover booth cost and got some leads -- the final test will be if they actually call and set up orders. Thanks to everyone that gave me feedback. My memory bears were the hit of the day. Now i have to decide if I try another show or wait to see if I get results from this one before spending money on another one. Thoughts?

Your sign turned out great, and glad you were able to cover costs at least. Here's a link to your original posting. http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...n-t161502.html

Your sign is very eye-catching! Also the Sunflowers are very pretty. If you know or spoke with some of the other vendors maybe you could ask them how they did and if this was their first show. Maybe get a feel for the public as to what was a hit and miss.

I love your sign! I'm so glad you posted it! It is good that you covered the cost of the booth. I'll bet you'll get orders. I do hope so.

Love your sign. Congrats on doing the craft fair.

Nice, bright colorful sign. It would definitely have made me stop in at your booth.

Your sign is very attractive and eye catching too :) :) :)

I think your sign is very attractive and looks like you laid out the booth well. If you sold enough to cover your costs at a first show, I think that's doing great!

Your sign and booth appearance are great! But I would not count on getting enough calls from folks who saw you to keep your business going. The standard advice is that you must constantly be reaching out. I would say that you should certainly look for another show and then others in the future, until you have such a stream of repeat business and referral business that you don't have time!

Did you offer your customers the chance to sign up for your emails? Do you have a Facebook page that you can use to communicate with folks? You said that your memory bears were successful. Maybe you should try to get your local newspaper interested in a soft and fuzzy story about the bears.

I sold Longaberger baskets at one time, and I was terrible at carrying out my own advice! I loved talking about them, meeting new people, but came to dislike the constant need to reach out and ask for more business. For me, this was a sideline -- my 'profits' hardly paid for my own purchases! But if you want to make this a real moneymaker, you'll probably have to keep hustling for quite a while.

Beautiful sign and your booth is arranged nicely, too. :)

LeslieFrost gave you some very good advice. Good luck and have fun! :)

That is an eye catching sign. Remember customer service. I am having a terrible time with one company. It is a small business but I can't understand how they stay in business. Good luck!

I have had another home based business for over 10 years and I agree with LeslieFrost also. You have to constantly keep your name in front of people. And those who say they will call often times never call. A few will surprise you though...have had that happen many times. Or...they will ask you what show you are doing next because they will come and buy more...rarely happens. In fact a lady loved a particular fragrance...I pour candles...and told me to pour her several and she would be at my next show...SHE NEVER SHOWED. Now a guy who loved another fragrance bought all I had at the show and said he would call...he DID call and ordered 10 candles in that scent.

But...I do wish you the best of luck and keep plugging away. Your sign and booth are inviting and would have attracted me to look.

I love your sign and your booth looked very nice. Yes, definitely do more shows. The more people see your face and products, the more your business will grow. It's all a numbers game. But don't get discouraged, it does take time. Best of luck to you!

Great sign and booth, good luck

Your sign is AMAZING!!!! I truly have never seen such a beautiful craft fair sign. Your set up is very welcoming.

I personally think you need to do other shows until you have enough of a customer base.

I got my first order from the first show (for 3 bears in Jan) and i am doing another craft show this weekend. My Fidget lap quilts for Alzheimers patients are taking off also. Been a good week.

What a beautiful sign!

susie-susie-susie 11-29-2011 06:16 AM

Your sign is beautiful. Good luck with your endeaver. It is hard to get started and to build a strong base for your business. I have done shows in the past, and some were very good and some were a dud. You never know, and have to keep trying.

Lovely sign, a real traffic getter. Did you enjoy the booth visitors? I love visiting and hearing their stories of there quilt memories.

Shirley, I'm glad that you are doing another show this weekend...you need to keep your name out there.
Very few people will call and place orders, so you need to keep showing. A possible venue for you might be a senior center or perhaps a show that benifits Alzheimer's...sometimes these specialized venues can be a goldmine.
Keep up the good work!
