Help with spots on Grandmas quilt
Found some quilts today that were made by grandmother. They were stored in a hutch and are in great condition, except there are a few spots that appear like a drop of rusty water or something discolored dripped onto two of them. What can I use on them to get out the spots and not hurt the cloth? Thank you for the help.

Using the search feature of the QuiltingBoard, I found the following link: http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...s-t233103.html that might help you.
FWIW, I used the words "clean antique quilt" in the search box. Lots of articles and threads appeared! Good luck! |
I have used Hydrogen Peroxide diluted to remove blood spots on quilts before. Be sure to try it in an inconspicuous spot, though.

I've used Fels Naptha bar soap to clean stains on old quilts similar to those you are describing. Be gentle and, as always, test a small area before you get into major cleaning. Good luck.

Retro Clean -- I've used it on old quilts with great results.
