I want to make this panel into a bed sized quilt without taking away the beauty of the panel itself. I was thinking batiks but am totally lost on what sort of blocks I want to do. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated

The panel is 36 X 42

Hm, I think I would go more for the rustic look. (No batics) I can see it with log cabin blocks and assorted tree blocks around it. Even some bear paws might fit. The colors would be pulled from the colors in the panel along with plaids. It reads very natural and somewhat masculine to me. Pretty!

Forgive my ignorance but what is a tree block? I think you're right about rustic now that I see it on here.

Oh I like that! Would love to see the finished quilt. I, also think this would be good with bear paws or log cabins.

maybe a few small inner borders then a flying geese strip all the way around then more borders,of course this might depend what size bed you are talking about.

I probably wouldn't use batiks. Bear paw blocks, flying geese and some kind of star block would all work well. Moda marbles or tone on tone prints would work. A yard or two of that brown plaid that's around the outside of the panel would be great in the blocks. You could also add some greens, tans and blues in the blocks.

What is a bear claw block?? The plaid around it was on there so I cannot duplicate that

Try Googling rustic quilts and you'll be amazed at what comes up for ideas. Had a bunch saved on my old computer that died and that's how I found them for ideas.
