I have all of my quilt sewn together. I am housebound because of lung problems. My question is this: I used plain squares and log cabin squares, put together with an old time print of black & white, people, trees, really quaint. I was planning on just doing an x on every other plain square and was wondering if this would be sufficent? Remember this is my first quilt done from scratch. Helped other people on the quilting, but never done one from scratch. 5 squares across 7 square down. First and last row done with plain squares, other rows, every other log cabin, plain, log cabin, plain, log cabin. plain, log cabin, plain, log cabin, plain. Ending 3 log cabins and last row plain squares. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

What kind of batting are you using? How much quilting to do depends on the batting used.

It could be, but you need to check the quilting requirements on the batting package to know for sure :D:D:D

Hi, are you talking about tying the quilt??? Let me know more. I'm not sure what you mean by an x :D:D

Ohhhh, now I get it!!!
Yeah, it really depends on the batting :D:D

It really depends on the batting. Warm n Natural can have quilting or ties up to 10" apart, I think. Mountain Mist Blue Ribbon has to be quilted 2" apart. Check the information on your batting package. If it needs to be closer than your X's, you might be able to place ties in the log cabin blocks.

The whole point is to secure the batting sufficiently so it doesn't come apart and shred internally with repeated washings.

I would wonder how big the squares are?? If I use warm and natural I don't like the quilting to be any more than a few inches apart, but as the others have said you need to read the label for the batting you are using.
