Am going on a long car trip and would like to do some hand quilting. Any ideas ?

How about some Quilt as you Go? That would be something easy to handle while traveling.
Maybe some cross stitch blocks that you could turn into quilt blocks?

Prep a pile of applique to stitch!:0)I never thought I could do this or do it very well, and it is fun! And, I too take travel along work, for I am not a good at being still:)Just don't forget to pack the necessities of thread, scissors and needle:)

English paper pcing is a good project to take along. Make all those hexagons and put them in a quilt. Marge

I am NOT a vendor. I am a person with parkinson's.. I go to as many quilt shows for vendors. I ran across a vendor that has thick plastic one half the size of game playing cards, hexigon size, can deflect a hand sewing needle cheat for the "Grandmother's garden" style quilting. I will post a site. I have 3 sepparate quilts now.. I did find I need to square off the design. The sawtooth edging in the picture is very difficult for me to bind.

I used one and one half inch side dimension for the quilt example. If you are doing one for a bed or throw, I suggest that size. they come 40 at cost of 17 or 18 dollars and is it suggested to by two packs.. try it. then but another is you like. Google and she is there.

I like making yo yos. I use the Clover yo yo makers and can sew up dozens in no time at all. You don't have to cut circles, just a square that will fit in the maker then cut the corners off.

Forgot to mention. Each flowerets can be made anywhere. This is for hand work. easy in a lap.

I have sewn on a bus on my way to doctor's appointments, physical therapy..ect..sitting in wheelchair

each floweret can be attached by hand along with a boarder color. A hand quilt top.

While looking in antique stores ( hard to see our wedding gifts in antique stores !! we don't feel that old ! ) The grandmother's garden quilts are quilted about 1/8th inch away from "ditch" toward center of all hexagons. I use my machine to stitch the center of flowerets and a few random connecting hexagons, much like a tack quilt. I do baby quilts. said that.
