Help.............a tension problem I think....

My machine suddenly started making strings of spaghetti on the underneath side!!!

What is your machine? Is your bobbin area clean? Do you have it threaded correctly and bobbin threaded correctly?

Go to the basics- clean out the bobbin area- take off the bobbin plate even , redo the bobbin, new needle , rethread the machine - Good luck :)

If there are long pieces on the bottom, it is probably your top tension. Sometimes a piece of loose thread gets caught in between the discs or lint. Unthread your machine by pulling the thread up towards the spool(foot in up postion) Make sure the discs are lint free and rethread. Always thread and unthread with the foot up. The foot up disengages the tension discs.

Maybe time for a new needle?

If the problem is under then plate it's the top tension; check how it's threaded. If the problem is on top of the fabric it's the bobbin tension. I normally just rethread and re do the bobbin and try again.

I've had that happen..... it was a threading issue. I took all the thread off..... top and bottom. .... then I rethreaded everything and it worked. Hope that works for you.

And try a fresh bobbin; sometimes when my bobbins get low I get the dreaded nest effect. Simply replacing the bobbin with a full one does the trick.

When my thread breaks, I have to remember to totally rethread the machine because the thread sometimes jumps out of the tension disks and the bottom is a mess.

Just had that today. The top thread jumped out of the take up leaver. fixed and was ok, after I cleaned up the thread tangle that was made.
