Help Using Bubble Jet Set 2000 to Print on Fabric
 

This is my 1st post to this forum. Please forgive me if I have posted this question in the wrong place.

Has anyone ever used this product to print photos on quilt squares? Do you pre-wash your fabric before soaking in Bubble Jet Set? After you print your photo, do you need the special Bubble Jet Set Rinse to set the ink or can you set your image with an iron?

Welcome to the forums! Usually our help type questions are actually on the main page and this is more about site help than quilting help but you got some attention so that is good.

I myself have not had a bubble jet printer, but I have printed on fabric using both ink jets and laser jets. The big thing is to make sure you are using the proper treatments for the correct type of printer/ink. For my laser jet, mostly I just iron whatever fabric I'm using to freezer paper, trim to size and run through my printer correctly. I have used both solids and prints of various colors/patterns. I do prewash and you need to make sure any time you are doing any sort of dying or printing that your fabric is "clean" I do not recommend fabric softener or dryer sheets -- but again, check the recommendations for your printer.

You can buy pretreated sheets of fabric, check your office supply store in the Specialty papers (typically cheaper than products sold in fabric shops) -- again, make sure you get the right type for your printer.

Depending on what you want to print, a lot of people have been using things like Spoonflower --

It can be easier/cheaper than some depending on what supplies you need to buy and what printing capabilities you have.

I used to use Bubble Jet products, and you will get a clearer photo finish if you use their product for the rinse.

I have used bubble set jet and haven't had such good luck with it. You do need to wash your fabric before using it. Search for direction on the net and you will find more good info.

I just used Bubble Jet Set for a picture quilt for Christmas. I did use their rinse, I bought the kit of the two. I was very happy with the results. Your bang for the buck, this is the way to go in my opinion. Excellent tutorials on YouTube too. I would definitely use this again.

Thanks everyone. I didn’t have the Bubble Jet Set Rinse and was curious to see if anyone had success without it. Wanted to start my project right away but I guess I’ll order it and wait for it to arrive. Wish they had both products locally.

Hi - Yours is the most recent post on this subj so I wanted to ask....I've just found out about the Bubble Jet products. Once I've printed my picture, do I rinse in the BJ rinse product and THEN add to quilt? Or can I applique to quilt top (the printed pic) and then wash the whole quilt in BJ rinse product? Thanks so much!

rinse just the printed item(s) first.

You will need to set the print with an iron first. I would leave overnight before washing.
