Help using Mylar

I am making hot pads and it calls for mylar. Which side do I put next to the fabric the side that is batting or the other side that has the mylar on it?

Thanks

Not sure I understand your question. Mylar is used on top of your fabric when embroidering a pattern designed for mylar to make the finished embroidery work shimmer. I'm pretty sure you would always use it before even getting to the batting stage....

Another thought - I've never made hot pads using mylar, so maybe Im not understanding the process. However, if you go to Embroidery Library online I'm pretty sure that they have a hotpad mylar tutorial. Good luck

The side with the mylar faces the heat source so it reflects the heat back away from the table, or your hand in the case of a potholder. The shiny stuff in InsulBright is mylar...that's what you're talking about, right?
