I purchased a viking 6020 online that said everything worked well. After checking everythig to make sure it was connected and set up ok I plugged it in. The machine immediately starts running without touching the foot pedal. It's a viking 6020. Anyone know if this can be corrected or if it needs to go to shop or back to seller? To me this seemes terribly dangerous.

Thanks in advance.

my viking has a start stop button that i can use or i can use the foot pedal---perhaps this button is stuck? did you get a manual with it? if not you may want to get one- then trouble shoot and see if you can (unstuck) the button. maybe it was jambed during shipping...or call a viking dealer and ask- the ones in my neck of the woods are pretty good about trouble shooting over the phone- even talked me through changing light bulbs.

Thank u i wasnt aware of a stop start button

Checked the manual and looks like there is no stop/start button on this model. Thank you though that was a good idea.

This is stupid but I had a similar experience with a serger. Those things really take off! I was so mad that I got ripped off...and then I noticed the tape on the foot pedal...it was pressed down for shipping...LOL

Follow up I had to post this you'll love it. I bought off ebay as said excellent working condition. Tech yesterday explained older machines had a part that stopped bleed over or snow on tv and they go bad. New tv's don't bleed over so just removed it and resolved problem. However this is a hoot. The selector knobs are frozen in place and this is hte part I love, the machine only sews in reverse.

Anyone out there really good at piecing an want to try it in reverse. LOL

Send it back or at least demand a refund. Might not be able to get parts for it. They're having trouble with parts for new ones.

Does yours have two plugs, onefor the light, one for te motor? And do they plug into a plug on the foot controller cord? If so, try switching the plugs. If you get them backwards, that's what happens.

Thank you. Talked to viking rep who said the switch selector knob is frozen in place and looks like the reverse is jammed in place as well. Looks like I bought a 40# paperweight. Hate to just chuck it out but also can't see donating a broken machine and someone else gets stuck with a lemon.
