I am making a heritage quilt where I am using my home printer to put pictures on the "Printed Treasures" inkjet printable fabric. I have followed the instructions and rinsed the picture on the fabric in cold water to remove the excess ink. Now, here is my question. I prewashed my other quilting fabric, should I prewash the inkjet fabric pictures once the pictures are printed on it before I sew it into the quilt? There are no other instructions with the inkjet fabric paper about prewashing if the other quilt fabric is prewashed. What do you guys do??

You probably won't want to put the printable fabric in the dryer, so it shouldn't shrink much just rinsing it. I would probably test the other fabrics for color fastness and not prewash them.

Does the package say what the care labels are for , with the finished quilt ? Is it machine washable or dry clean only ?
|
It is washable, not dry clean only.

When I use Printed Treasures I make sure is a quilt that will not be washed. The quality of the print is usually excellent, but I find that the fabric tends to wrinkle more than regular cotton and is a little harder. If I make a big quilt I make it to hang and clean it with the vacuum cleaner. My opinion only.

I have only made one quilt with printed pics and it is a wall hanging and will not be washed.

since you have to rinse the fabric sheets and heat set any shrinkage would already occur, you do not need to prewash after printing, setting.
