I'm interested in this also. My brother passed away and I asked my SIL for the shirts that she loved seeing him wear. I wanted to make her something from them. I made her a stuffed bear - which turned out really cut but would like to make a quilt also.

If anyone has done this in the past ~ I would love seeing pictures :)

I think I would choose a neutral background fabric and do a simple pattern, like 9-patch or a pinwheel alternating with a solid square.

Explains how to cut a man's shirt making pieces for quilt. I have seen people use all parts of the shirt (placket, cuffs, labels)
in their blocks.

Last year at one of our men only quilting retreats, one of the attendees worked on his quilt from his shirts. It was just squares - about 4" finished. Random placed and not in 9 patch arrangement. It was really nice looking. My preference would be to not use a defined patchwork pattern which might difuse the fabrics. The shirts were cotton and blends. Since there was a mixture of fibre one needs to piece carefully so any one does not stretch.

Here's a couple of pics of what to do with the ties they were just appliqued down. be careful though these were old and not washed some silk ect. colors did bleed when washed (was a muslin back) Could even do a wall hanging instead

three ties in one block
