I recently asked about sewing machine oil on another thread and was told it is the same thing as mineral oil.
Sewing machine oil is a type of mineral oil, but it is a much finer grade than regular mineral oil that you might have around the house. You cannot use just any type of mineral oil in a machine; it must be sewing machine oil.
