help! Zig z ag settings.

I thought I was doing something simple-ha! now am running out of time - I want to zigzag down the middle of a double fleece scarf - I have not zz before and tried, read instructions and tried the settings of 10,5 and stitch length of 2 (standard on my JANOME 2011 ) but it needs to be longer in stitch that looks nice. I just don't have time to try different settings so I there's some of you that zz regularly and can give me some numbers would appreciate it.

Sorry, I don't have a Janome. You will have to try a few samples because any zig zag for regular cotton will have to be enlarged for fleece. I think I would go for the maximum settings and work down because 2 layers of fleece will be thick.

I agree with Tartan I would fo for the maximum setting and work down if you need to.

Agree. Start out with maximum stitch length and stitch width and work down from there.

Thanks everyone. I found the machine is smarter than I am. BUTTTTTTTT_____I was setting and sewing along and everything looked nice- didn't change anything then it started getting loopy on bottom. Any ideas on why?

Mine would do this too and the shop owner acts like I'm crazy. Never have found out what is going on!

If you are sewing on fleece it is most likely a bit of lint somewhere it shouldnt be that is causing your trouble.
You might also check your presser foot pressure due to the thickness you are working with.

Since the fleece is so thick...are you sure you have the pressure foot down? That will definitely cause loops on the bottom.

If you try the stitch length at maybe 5 it will look nicer.

Too many variables to give an informed answer.
