Help with Zig Zag stitching on Singer 760
Hi, can anyone help me with a problem I have using my Singer 760 touch & sew? When I use the zig zag stich I find it hard to start at the very edge of the material as it gets caught under the foot and bunches up, it is fine if I start away from the edge but I want to protect the full lengh of the sem. I have tried using the special foot attachment too but this makes the stitching tight (I have tried adjusting tension but its not this). Any suggestions greatly recieved. Thanks in advance....

use a scrap piece of fabric as a starter/leader. then the zig zag will begin at the edge of your main project

Are you zig zagging the edge of an appliqué down onto background fabric or zig zagging the beginning of a seam together? If you are having trouble with the beginning of sewing 2 pieces together, you can start stitching about 1/4 inch in from the edge, reverse to the start and then proceed and see if that helps. If you are doing the satin stitch on appliqué, try a stabilizer under the background, bring up the bobbin thread before you start zig zagging and hold the threads as you begin sewing.

I guess I don't understand why you are zigzagging seams. That is not a typical quilting technique.
