Here I go on another Bargello... :)
2 Attachment(s)
I have another Bargello going. I decided that our cream and teal bathroom needed a bit of Bargello, so that is what this small wall hanging will be. I have it pinned, sort of, on the design wall, but here is what it looks like so far.
I have violated two "Bargello rules"...well, one rule twice. Two of my fabrics have designs that don't show up in every piece. I still think it is going to turn out okay. However, as always, I have a question. I am trying to decide which color to put in the top corners. I will include two pictures....one what a cream color (looks white) and the other has the darker teal. Which way would you go? Any opinions are appreciated. :) Dina |
I like the teal. It just looks like it should be the top. I'm so "Monday" today, take my opinion with a grain of salt!
I like the first one better. Cute tiny Bargello.
I like the first one with the teal corners on top. Will be cute! One of these days I will get up the nerve to try one!
I prefer the cream...I think it's because it's sticking to the pattern used underneath it, whereas I find the teal jumps out at me too much. But saying that, both are lovely!
I vote for the top one! I agree with LyndaOH that it helps define the top of the wallhanging.
Teal, I think.
pretty colors
I like the teal.
Very pretty. The teal gets my vote.
Another vote for the darker color. You're in your groove again, Dina!
I think the teal on top corners looks best. It will be beautiful ! I also want to make one.
Hi Dina. SIMPLE ?. The teal !! I do this all the time so the corners are not distracting. I want to see a photo posted when you finish with this one. :)
I too like the teal, it looks more grounded.
I agree with teal. But, where's the purple?
I'm pressing my fabrics for another Bargello also. Guess I'm in the vast minority  Because I think the cream makes more sense. It continues the pattern and "white caps" the teal waves and carries on with the movement your piece has. JMHO, I would paint the frame a teal shade with a cream paint wipe off or vice versa. Or use white oak or pine and do a teal stain wiped off or a dark wood frame. Ok that's way more than my 2 cents so I'll stop now...sorry! Too much HGTV and DIY Network I guess :o
Dina- I vote for teal, seams to balance better. But then a frame could change all that. Sorry not much help. Oh, store in Phx didn't have the 3 fabrics I needed.
How do you do this so quickly and easily? I seem to take forever just picking colors. Your wall hanging is really pretty.
teal, teal wins. lol Barb

I like the teal also
I'll be the odd one, I vote for cream. The teal looks very strong, whereas the cream looks softer. I'd like to try a small bargello as well, this gives me inspiration. Our daughter is getting married, and I'd like to do her wedding colours in a mini, and mount behind a window pane.................I'll have to think about that some more.
I like the teal the best. The cream just seems to fade away. Anyway, it's beautiful!

I like the teal in the corners. My "logic" is that it balances the teal in the center of the bottom portion. The cream in the corners gives the illusion that the top portion is rounded off at the corners. Of course the illusion will change depending on the binding you use. Interesting question.
I like the teal. In my opinion, the cream makes it look like you have holes in the top, and the teal fills it in very nicely.
By the way, gorgeous quilt. |
I think it is beautiful any way you choose
Uh, Oh...didn't realize there were Bargello police. Now, however, I can store the bit about using each row needing one of the fabrics in the quilt. Thanks!
I vote teal. |

Okay, okay....you were all right. I decided that I wanted the cream corners, but when I went ahead and did them, well...the teal looked better. So, teal it will be. Here is a picture with the borders pinned on. I think it is going to look good.
Good thing I am on good terms with my seam ripper, as I also sewed one whole row in upside down. Can't believe I didn't notice it until I was finished (before borders though, thank goodness!!) Next time I will listen harder to the majority! :) Dina |
Beautiful. You have given me courage to try one when I get back from vacation.
Either one would be fine, but I vote for the teal, as it finishes those strips. It's a beautiful quilt and would look great in a bathroom or anywhere.
I like the teal but the cream follows the pattern and keeps the colors moving better. IMHO
Pretty little bargello, I would like the teal, but that is one of my favorites.
I like the white.
I think you chose correctly, the teal was uplifting and the cream seemed a little,? like rain washing the teal color away.
I like the teal on top. Remember, there are no rules, you make the quilt, you get to decide what you use in it. I like bargellos with prints, it makes them more interesting.
I choose the first one...
