How many of you "heat pin"?
By that I mean, press your pieces together just before sewing them? I find that it helps keep the pieces together without my having to worry about aligning edges. I do have my cordless "at my elbow" so it's no problem with having to get up, plus it keeps me "moving" at the waist. :-P I do pin when I need to keep points right on, but sometimes pins just distort pieces a bit and since my steam is always on, it's like having starched the fabric. Works for me. |
Since I'm new to quilting, I hadn't thought of using that as a method to secure items for stitching, I'll have to see how that works for me.

I've never heard of this before. I'll have to try it.

I don't keep the iron close to me, so I don't do it, but it is a great idea.

Sounds like a great idea. I have 'issues' with pins so think I'll try this. Thanks

Sounds interesting .... but unfortunately I don't have the iron close by.
|
works really great when using flannels or brushed cottons
|
I do if the fabrics are trying to walk when I sew them.

I've heard of this before. The heat/steam kinda locks the fibers together. Thanks for the reminder to consider this more often!

Never heard of it but will definatly give it a try!
Thanks |
