Maybe you can have one made. I am not sure where you would go to get one made but maybe at a lumber yard or somewhere that they sell plexiglass. Good Luck.

craftybear 06-08-2011 07:49 PM

I have never seen that template, will surf and see if I can find it for us

sandy12010 06-08-2011 07:59 PM

nice little template, I will keep an eye out, I am sure crafty bear will find it though ;)

jmabby 06-08-2011 08:05 PM

Can Your sister email the seller to find out where she got it??

ewecansew 06-08-2011 08:06 PM

I used to sell those in my store. Probably 17-18 years ago. They are plastic, not acrylic and cannot be used with a rotary cutter. They can be traced around with a pencil/marker then cut out.

sandy12010 06-08-2011 08:08 PM

she cant find the paper work on it so she dont know who it was...I am using a pencil to trace them and marking them then cutting them out...so it is time comsuming but relaxing..I have about 30 plus sewn together but my sister is wanting her template back so I am trying hard to find one
thank
sandy

When I want a template made out of the same as our quilting rulers, I just go to my local glass shop with my pattern ... and they cut it for me. Works slick, as can just slide around with a rotary cutter.

Works well, and pricing is very reasonable. Though it won't have any markings on it.

sandy12010 06-08-2011 09:42 PM

I dont mind no markings but I have to have the different sizes and not sure if they can do the slots that are in the template...it has 5 different sizes on it...I will keep looking if not able to find it I will go to a glass shop if there is one close by..
thanks so much for all the help and suggestions
sandy

No I dion't think that they would be able to do the slots. Would you need the slots, if you had them cut you five hexes of those different sizes?

Hen3rietta 06-09-2011 04:34 AM

I think I've seen them at larger quilt shows. I'm pretty sure there was a booth that sold this at Quilt Odyssey in Hershey, PA last year.

redmadder 06-09-2011 04:41 AM

Sandy, PM me. I bought one just like that 20 years ago. Hate hexagons, never gonna use it.

pamabla 06-09-2011 04:54 AM

I have a hexagon template made by EZ Quilting, which I got at JoAnn's. It does not have slots, but is a green acrylic and can be used with a rotary cutter. It has sizes from 1" to 5 1/2". I also have two other templates I bought at an auction; one is a diamond, the other a Dresden Plate. Both have slots like the one you posted. These are by Yours Truly. Don't know if they have a website, but the address on back is : Yours Truly, Inc., P.O. Box 80218, Atlanta, GA, 30366. The back also shows a template like yours. Hope this helps

Those templates are likely from the 70s.
I have, or perhaps had, several when I first started quilting back then.
Good luck in your search.
Try googling "1970s quilting templates" and see what comes up. Remember to use the "...."

redmadder 06-09-2011 05:31 AM

I actually found it. It was in with the flying geese rulers. It says Elizabeth Anne Quilting Templates and its just like your picture, even has the date 1989 on it. Wait, there's an address, 310 Matadera Ct. Danville, CA 94526
Isn't that funny, now we expect a www.com.

Anyway, you can have it. PM me, redmadder

Ouch!!! Nobody has mentioned our products. Oh yes, we have hexagons. Template Sets G & H are 1", 1.5", 2" and 3" finished size of an edge hexagons with the other pieces in the family, i.e. the 60 degree diamond, the equilateral triangle, the half hex and what I will call the ice cream cone for sake of a better phrase. If that is not enough try Set N for miniatures. It has a 0.75" hexagon and other family pieces. Still more. We have a multi sized hexagon ruler with six sizes from 2" to 4.5". There are two multi sized equilateral triangles that can be used with the multi sized hexagon ruler. And yes, there is still more. We have hexagons that are cut from the inside of a larger hexagon. That saves a little money. There is still plenty of plastic left to keep the products strong.

Our company policy has been to not seek business from the big box retailers and stay with the independent stores that have a strong knowledge of quilting and of the many features in our products. That may be why our products have not been mentioned. We have over 70 acrylic tools designed by Marti Michell who has also written an excellent book on quilts from the 60 degree family. You can see all of the products at www.frommarti.com

We hope this has been helpful.
