Hexagons

Paper or plastic templates to make them? I have researched and the preference is split, so wondering if anyone here wants to contribute their thoughts before I venture into my first ones.
Thanks in advance and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

My husb just cut some for me from 1/8 (?) in clear plastic. I like being able to see thru to the design in the fabric underneath.

I am enjoying this process.

How are you sewing the hexagons together? I am working on one that uses the whip stitch. The flowers were made by my husbands grandmother and we are adding the black hexes around each flower. I am joining them on point with green diamonds.

MamaW ... I've been using ones I made out of cardstock.
Otherwise, I have no experience.

Dedemac ... continue on with the whip stitch ....What a treasure you have, to have those from your DH DGM!!!

I too am using a whip stitch. I am making my flowers with a red center then yellow. After yellow it will be random colors with green connecting hexies. This is my plan right now. I work on it while watching tv.
what a great project to be able to finish up..

I just paper hexagons. They work well for me - easy to remove and I have reused them.

I use this project as my portable one to take to my quilting group.

I print mine off on cardstock weight paper. Works well for me.

Dedemac...I LOVE the black setting hexagons...what a treasure!

I use the paper. Works for me, but everyone is different.

Yes I find this very portable also. I too have reused the paper hexagons and they are very easy to take out. I believe connecting threads has a great Video on how to.
