hexes
 

just finished my 3/4" hex quilt.
its a triad design one on top of two. it's about 65 x 68.
So now i'm doing 1" GFG design. I feel like i'm cheating.
Do you all think a 1"hex is calling it a hex but not good enough.
Do you know what I mean. I feel like i'm cheating and calling it a hex.

yes, but they are hex's only very small, right? So yes, hex's.

they are 1" hexes. you know when they get big, some people think it's cheating.
they are 1" and going a lot faster than 3/4" one. so, still hexes? People think of
the hexes as tiny things, not large. That's my main concern.

Congratulation on getting that huge hex quilt finished. STILL don't have a US stamp yet. Hex is just three letters less to type. To me, size is optional.

i'm thinking of adding some hexes in the border. what do you all think.
the borders are a black print about 5" wide.

Lynnie, did you post a picture of the 3/4" hex quilt and I missed it. I have been following your progress in other posts and would like to see the finished product! You do such nice work.

A hex is a hex no matter what size it is as I see it. Where is the pic? Would love to see it.

I don't understand??? I've made patterns with 3" & 5" hexies... They are still hex designs, they were not easier or faster than my 1/2" hex project and they sure used more fabric & thread. I'm not understanding your concern. I have a hexagon table topper that is 40".... Its still a hexagon.

A hex is a hex if it has six side-no matter the size. I have some patterns from my quilt guild that have five inch designs that are paper pieced to make all sorts of interesting designs-but they are hexies and made like the traditional ones. There are a couple of books written along these lines. It reminds me of some of the things people have done with log cabins over the years. Tradition is fine and the new steps into the future are equally fun.

I know what you mean, Lynnie, but everyone's right, a hexie is a hexie and I love them in all sizes. *Jumping over to pictures to see if you have it posted there*.

will have Jeanne photograph it for me if she has her camera up. other wise, after it is quilted i'll post a picture. working on my quilt today pulled out greens for the leaves on the flowers. so much fun.

Congrats on your finish, if you're like me, you're glad and sad at the same time! Glad to finish, but sad to not have it to work on anymore, so have to HURRY and start another one, LOL! I'm doing the 1" now, and no it ain't cheatin, it's just a different size! I don't think I'll ever get tired of them.

they are so much fun to make, you just can't stop making them. this time, besides the yard or two I bought today of 1/4's, I;m planning on using all my scraps on it. I'll need some greens for my leaves or vines. i'm a hex addict!
