I've just started playing with epp and have a beginners question. I'm making the 1 1/2 inch 6 point diamond shape with Moda Midwinter Red 2 1/2 inch charms. The fabric has pieces that are red, brown, beige and cream. I have about 40 individual pieces done and am starting to put them together into the star shape. Do you use coordinating thread with the different fabrics or just something neutral with everything?

Susann, when I am sewing like pieces together (red to red), I match the thread. When I am sewing pieces of different colors (red to cream) I use whichever color is less noticeable this might change depending on how the print is cut and what color is dominant in that particular piece.

Thanks, kathyd! That makes perfect sense.

Another hexie addict here! Started this last year when I was in hospital having my bionic knee fitted!! It is growing slowly.....always was going to be a long term project!! Done in 1930s fabrics. A useful tip from a fellow quilter was to keep all the centres the same colour...mine are all red...but I could have used blue / green/yellow etc They are 1" hexies downloaded from www.texasfreckles.com. I use 2 1/2" squares of fabric. I just fold and tack the fabric without tacking through papers. Easy to remove papers and no need to remove tacking stitches either!!!!

I have my 'ready-to-go' bag....take it to
Doctors/Dentist/long journeys etc!! It certainly gets a lot of curious attention!!

I have jury duty this week and am putting together a bag to keep me busy. I'm use to being on my feet moving so the possibility of sitting for hours on end makes me nervous!

Good call Susann. You will feel like you have accomplished something and the others are all envious they have nothing to occupy their time.

Just counted and I need to cut 8 more "flowers" to complete the little quilt so back to the pastel scrap bin.

I noticed how quickly it all comes to together - especially when I'm in front of the television. It looks like a lot of effort but turned out not to be as much as I thought it would take.
