I am wondering if any of you have tried the blades you recently purchased and how do you like them? Are they as good as the Olfa blades?

Joanie Owen 08-22-2010 07:10 AM

No, not as good as Olfa but at 75 cents each, you don't mind replacing them. Blade sharpeners have never helped my older blades.

I bought a blade sharpener that was a total waste of money. Got it at Joann's can't think of the name, maybe Dritz. It's blue and now in the trash :D

I purchased three and used it for 5 cuts and went back to my old Olfa 60. You have to push too hard. My thoughts.

I just purchased HF blades last week and have been using one of them this week. I think they are great so far. I cut some fleece and it worked very well. Will be interesting to see how long they last. They certainly are cheaper!!!

For .75 a piece, it is well worth it! I have 2 of the blades, and they work fine! So far I have cut 120 5" squares for a rag quilt, and no problems, or effort into cutting!

Blade sharpeners won't work if you sharpen a dull blade. They are meant to be used to keep a sharp blade sharp. I bought the Grace Company True Cut Rotary Blade Sharpener and it works great. I sharpen my blade before I use it for the day and I haven't changed blades in six months so far. No sharpener will take out a nick so be careful about pins.
