Hi...my new sewing room is so nearly finished now..and I want to organise my fabric neatly....I have lots of ikea expedit storage which basically is lots of boxed units and would like to be able to see my fabric.....I have read in other posts about using a ruler to wrap the fabric round.....please can you explain...and tell me of any other methods you use to show off your fabric....thank you

I just used a piece of cardboard about 6" x 24", but here is a tut that a member did on it.

I'm in the process of putting my fabric in a closet and here's what its starting to look like. Few more bins to unload.

i use the free fabric cardboard bolts from Joanns. it ends up being 6" wide. IF the fabric is 2 yards +

if not, i do the folding technique:

here are a couple tutorials:

I used the folding method and this it what it looks like.
(I love it) It is so easy to find what I want and I have used much more of my stash since doing it this way.

That looks very nice. I don't like my fabric being exposed to light and dust, so mine is behind bifold doors in large closets in my basement sewing room, with a dehumidifier running all the time. I use the ruler fold method. This is part of my stash.

Thanks for for your replies..really appreciated...Loved the idea of the little plastic boards and loved the way that looked but no one in the UK is doing them so am now ready to fold.
