I have tried to contact Singer but they do not respond. I am on disability and can't afford to have someone else to set it. I would even like to find a copy of it's manual.
Thanks for any help.

Have you checked with Lostin51?? He's a genius with machines.
Check out the vintage machines board- I may have his name wrong. Good luck!!

can you do this yourself...I thought when the timing was gone so was the machine....I know a quilter at retreat hit a pin and hers was off and couldn't be fixed but it was a mechanical Kenmore so don't know

Timing can be readjusted, but it's a technical job. Regular sewing machine manuals don't show how to do it.

I think your best bet is to join a vintage Singer machine group at http:groups.yahoo.com . There are experts on those groups who can direct you to the right manual and/or explain how to do it yourself.

I used to watch the repair man at the Singer dealer...I asked him what he was doing and he explained that timing is NOT something that the average person can fix....he had been a Singer repairman for 30+ years.
Sorry, but I doubt that you will find a tutorial on timing.

I disagree....depends on how badly you want to get something fixed yourself. Try, try again until you get it.

Its lostn51, no i in there. And yes, he is an expert. Very helpful.

Thanks,
I used to know how to do it on this older machine, but had a stroke and don't remember now. Hopefully I can find out.
It was setting the needle stroke to the run time. It was to the part where the bobbin rests is where you set it.

PM'd ya. Hope you don't mind.

weslynn 07-23-2010 03:58 PM

Thank you so very much. It does show clearly how to set the time on several types of machines. The one I needed was there.
It is fairly simple after you see it one time.
Thank you so much again.

Was that in response to the PM I sent ya?

If so, I may just post on open board just in case anyone else likes to save money.

weslynn 07-24-2010 05:11 AM

Yes, was a great help. Do you mind if I post it or send it to others?

I set the timing on my Featherweight. Just kept adjusting and sewing, until it made the correct stitch. etc.
