oops, sorry about that. Just tried to make an octagon from memory, so here goes. Riversong did the original tute. She drew a round shape, anysize, I used an 8 inch dinner plate. Fold your paper circle in quarters, place ruler on this folded paper cut off the rounded end. Presto you now have an octagon template. Just use different sized circles for different sized octagon. I just kept cutting down my circle till I got the size I wanted. I'm real technical, not.

Octagon is 8 sided...hexagon is 6 sided...which does the circle make...not in place where I can try.....

I use my Hickory Templates a lot. I have the Hexie and Cathedral window Hickory templates, all sizes. The shop is about an hour away and I always get new ideas to use them when I shop there.

So tell me/ us. On the template for framed hexie...what is the size of the seam allowance....I found that with the thinnest batting I needed a good 3/4" to get the good looking frame...I am curious about the cathedral window....as I am now doing one-----btw----not enjoying THIS at all...but will finish it into something! I wish they or someone else would do a tute on that template. Their website is very sparse, IMHO and not very informative
