Hints/Tips for use of June Tailor Colorfast fabric sheets

I am going to be making a photo quilt. I was planning on using the June Tailor colorfast sew in fabric sheets. I was wondering if anyone has used these before and would have any good tips for working with them. I am going to do a test run soon but always like to know ahead of time if there is any special way of handling them so that I can get the best results.

Thanks!!

Mindy

Did you mean the inkjet sheets. If so you will have a wonderful time they are. Very easy to work with.

Yes, I am using the inkjet sheets. I have to print them out, then rinse and iron before sewing. Any special things I need to know about the rinsing/drying/pressing process?

My tip for these, and all, inkjet printer sheets, would be to print a sample label/photo, sew half of it to a small sample quilt sandwich, and toss it in the washer and dryer with your regular laundry at least twice, maybe three times. When done, compare it to the unwashed half. That way you'll find out, before you spend a lot of time on a special quilt, what the ink is apt to do over time. With some of those sheets, depending on your printer and the type of ink it uses, the printing disappears almost completely after just one washing.

I think I read somewhere on this board to let the printed fabric "set" for 24 hours before doing anything else to it. That way, the ink has plenty of time to dry. Made sense to me..
