Hobbs Charity Batting Program
Has anyone ordered batting directly from Hobbs using their charity batting program? And if you did how much was the shipping? I could not find the shipping costs. Thanks for your help. Alice

Here is the form and there is a number you can call on there too, they might better be able to answer your question since I’m sure shipping may depend on the area you live. Good luck!

Thank you for the link.

If they run their charity program anything like they do their wholesale program the shipping is crazy expensive because they only drop ship via common carrier (a tractor trailer truck delivers the roll(s) to your destination site so someone has to be there to receive it and unload it). Common Carrier rates change daily so they won't quote you a shipping price until you actually place the order because they have to contact the trucker to see what the going rate is for your area.

I buy all fabrics and batting myself. My charity quilts are totally from me.

The shipping from Hobbs is expensive. We used to buy 2 rolls (96" x 30 yards each) and the total cost would be around $225. It worked out to about $3.73 a yard. I just bought Pellon 80/20 from Walmart.com at about $2.94 a yard, which includes free shipping. You can also get good prices on batting at Overstock.com, although they are out of the 80/20 at the moment.

I'm with JanBech. Hobbs' Charity Program is no charity. It is a way to get rid of their seconds and unwanted batting. It is stated in their program that you get what they send you and that's it. Hobbs charity program is an expensive way to buy batting. I'd rather go to Joanns and save money.
