Hobby Lobby question...
Does anyone know if Hobby Lobby restocks fabric on a regular basis?
I ask because I have made a "design change" and find I could really use two more yards of a fabric that I thought they always stocked. But when I looked today, there wasn't any. I have often seen fabric on the shelves that I bought years and years ago, so I may have made a wrong assumption, thinking they always had the same fabric. Does anyone know? I want to know that if I am patient, this fabric might appear again. :) I bought it about a month ago. Dina |
Why not ask them to order it for you? I know Joann's will if it something they still carry.
|
Can you try another Hobby Lobby. They seem to carry the same fabrics.

Your selvage edge may help you to possibly get it online.

You might look for it online, sometimes you can find it that way.

I always thought they had a "core" of fabrics that are regularly restocked---I have seen some of them in stock for years. I agree your best bet is just to ask a clerk in the fabric section or try another HL store nearby.
|
Why don't you post a picture of it? Most of us have a Hobby Lobby nearby and could probably find it for you.

Thanks for all of your ideas. There is no information on the selvage, and I looked on my "sales receipt," thinking there might be an order number or something. There was just the yardage and price.
I need the extra fabric for borders that I hadn't planned on, so my current plan is to move on to something else and check Hobby Lobby every once in a while. I really think it will appear again. (They had several deep purples, just not the right one.) I just need to be patient, or else change my plan. Again, thanks for the ideas. Dina |
Are you only looking in the store? They sell fabrics online as well, maybe you could look on their site and see if it's there.

Can you post a picture of the fabric? I can always check in my local stores
if I know what it looks like. |

But, I use a lot of purple, so I think I will just order it up and see if I get lucky. Here is a picture of my quilt, where it is now. It is the dark purple background I am looking for. I have decided I want to enlarge the quilt by having more of the background color, then a small border of a medium purple, and then another outer border of the dark purple. Though I might be wiser to just bind it as it is, as the pattern suggests...:) Thanks for all the help. Dina |
I think it is spectacular without more borders. It makes its own statement, more borders would complicate it.
Just my opinion. |
No help with the fabric but can't help but comment on your ribbons! Congratulations on so many winning quilts!

Several years ago I had a friend who worked in the fabric department of Hobby Lobby. At that time they reordered bolts as needed, but they also got what she called "send outs", which came from headquarters supposedly randomly. Those bolts were a one time deal for each store.
Since you are looking for a solid, I would think that would not be a "send out", but would instead be a staple. Unfortunately if you consider how Hobby Lobby has such a manual style cash register system, I can't imagine how difficult it must be to keep up with inventory. Do they just collect the cardboards once the bolts are empty and then place an order periodically? |
Beautiful Quilt, I wouldn't use borders, it stands on it's own without a frame.

Aren't you sweet. :) I have been very lucky in the ribbon department. There are 6 more behind the door. What I like about my ribbons is that I use only SITD when I quilt, and when I first started quilting, 6 years ago, I was told I could never win in a Quilt Show unless I did fancier quilting. Luckily, I don't really have a competitive bone in my body and enter my quilts as more of an expanded Show and Tell thing. But if a judge wants to give me ribbons, I can live with that...:) Dina |
No matter what you decide to do, that looks to be a "winner" quilt and a real beauty of one too.
|
Hobby Lobby will order it for you and you don't have to buy the whole bolt
|
I buy from there quite often. If it is a solid color, they always have the same. The only thing you have to watch is the dye. It might be a little lighter or darker.

Thanks! Dina |
I would not wait and expect to see it restocked unless it is a basic pattern and style. Did you ask the people at the store if they will get it again?
|
Good luck with the fabric but however you finish it, such a gorgeous quilt, Dina. Ribbon-worthy. :)

You might see if one of the salespeople would go outside with you and the bolt. Fabric is never the same color inside the store as in natural lighting and it's impossible to match colors. Florescent lighting is horrid, harsh and glaring besides being hard on your eyes that it now permeates homes with the 'expensive' lightbulbs forced on us now. I take a piece of what I'm going to match and ask someone to come outside with me. Even side by side in the store, I doubt solid purples would match.

However, you are right about the light, and I have decided to buy the best purple I can, and if I don't use it for this, I will use it for something else. I always have a use for purple. :( Dina |
