first, the sale price is a good one. i bought mine many years ago for less. it does wobble. some quilters actually use it as a cutting table. i just use it to baste my quilts. usually with basting spray. I like it well enough.
|
I have looked at these tables but was not impressed with what I have seen. They do not appear to be sturdy enough to take the workout I would give it. I will make one some day from something used...
|
I've had mine for over ten years and use it all the time. Never had a wobble problem, or at least I have never really noticed.
|
Have it love it and use it all the time to pin baste quilts. Like that it's higher than our table so easier on the back. Love the feature that sides fold down and sits against the wall. Have a quilt draped on top...looks so pretty!

I have one and my friend has one. I've had mine for 12 years and it has been wonderful. I do have it on carpet so the jiggling has not bothered me. I keep mine fully extended and it is my only cutting table. I'd love to have two for sandwiching, but not enough room for me to store it. I did get mine at about half of what the cost is now, but it has been good for me. I did get one of the white cutting mats, but soon layered it with two large Olfa mats gotten at Joann's with a 50% discount coupon. The white mat is not selfhealing and quickly lost it's good cutting surface.

I bought a farmhouse dining table (all wood) from a local thrift store a couple of years ago for $30. So sturdy and that big cutting mat that will fit the table you are referring to fits perfectly on the top. The only thing I might do is get a set of those bed risers to make it a better height for me. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I love my table like this and it is very sturdy but the best thing about it is that it folds up to ease a space issue in my sewing room.
|
I have this table too and it works for me. I have a small space and I like that I can fold it up when I need more room. I use it for cutting, ironing, anything else I need a large flat surface. I haven't had any trouble with it feeling too flimsy.
|
I had that table and the only thing left of it is the top. After moving it about and opening and closing it, the screws came out because the table is made of pressboard. I ended up buying a dining table from a clearance center and put it up on wooden bed risers. It works great.

You could get a sturdy table from Sam's Club if you have one in your area. That table just doesn't look sturdy to me.

I have this table and never have had any problems with it. Have had it set up and use it every day for more than 5 years. got it half price.
|
My husband bought me a 6' folding table for our patio so I can have more space. I love it! I still need to get the bed risers for sandwiching my quilts, but it's so much nicer than working on just a TV tray! It bounces if I'm going really fast, but I don't go that fast, that often. Best of luck in your search!

How tall are you? I have one and it's 3 or 4 inches to high for me. I can't get enough leverage to keep the ruler from shifting. If I were 5'3" or taller, it might work better.

Hi, read all of your comments, have one of the folding tables from walmart, not to happy with it sewing machine causes it to bounce! Have not tried the on at joanns. A few years ago got a ping-pong table on sale it folds up when not in use ( keep it outside on patio as it has a plastic cover, and the weather in south Texas has never caused a problem) Use it to baste quilts ,have lg. clamps to hold fabric in place.
|
I bought one of those tables years ago to use as a cutting table. When I upgraded to a new cutting table, I converted it into an ironing table and am still using it for that purpose. One of the roller feet came off but I never move the table, it stays open all the time for ironing, and the broken roller foot "sits" in position even though it's no longer welded it, and the table is stable. I think it was a pretty darn good investment.

I have the one from Joanne's and so does my Mom. I never noticed it wobbled, but then, I had it butting up against a wall. Got the plastic grid to go on top as well. I like the fact that you can leave it fully open, only half open, or fold down both sides to store it. I used got mine on sale at 50% off.

I have the table. My husband changed the casters out for ones that has rubber wheels and it works great. Does not move on me. Give me a great surface to work on. I use it for everything from pinning cutting and ironing. Love the table cause it folds down if I need more room. He got the casters at harbor freight for a couple bucks each.
occasional "slipping". I do use the table a lot. I have the cutting mat that fits over it and wouldn;t be without it. |
I have this table in my sewing space. It's not super sturdy but it does work I've already mangled one of the coasters. With my lack of space this really was a good solution. It folds up neatly and doesn't take up to much space. With the half price coupon it also made it affordable.

I looked at it and read the reviews about the wobbly legs. While I was thinking about buying it, I found an older model formica topped 36" square kitchen table with (2) 12" leaves at the our local GoodWill store for $20.00. My re-invented cutting table is very sturdy, and if I want to, I can put my sewing machine on it. I wouldn't have been able to do that if I bought the one from Jo-Ann's. It fits just right beside my other 36x48 kitchen table that I bought for a sewing table.

I have one similar that I got from Joann's. I have no complaints about it. I would suggest, however, that you wait until you get a 50 percent off coupon. I used it for that, and there was no problem. In fact, I was in the store for something else and stopped to look at this table in the box. Another customer who was passing by said she bought one and used it and had no problem with it. She asked me if I had a 50 percent off coupon, I said I didn't, and she
gave me one. |
