My Great Aunt And Grandma were hobos and rode the rails, but my DD says that it is not something to be proud of and not to even think about making the quilt. I tell her it was a different time and it happened to a part of our family and as such it is our history. Even without her blessing I do plan to make this quilt, eventually.

Well, That can go both ways, some were bums and some were honest men and women looking for jobs but didn't have the money to pay the fare. Some for one reason or the other fell on hard times etc.
